Hi guys -- there's a huge frenzy of updating going on right now. In reorganizing the pages, some of the data may have been left out. Later tonight when things settle, I will go back through the earlier revisions to be sure that no data is omitted, so don't panic! -- Spatulus
Except if there is an edit conflict, are all the revisions saved? I don't think so.
If there's an edit conflict, you need to re-save your edits and merge the two. I can't do everything for ya! -- Spatulus
After I made the listing 7 columns and split the shards into 6 sub pages, I went back and noted the 10 or so edits that did occur during the switch and added them in after the fact, but a double check will not hurt, thanks Spatulus - Balthazarr
2006-11-18 20:29:24 Pharaoh here...
2006-11-18 20:30:05 I have just received word from scientists at several of our Great Universities of Thought, concerning the seemingly intractible situation of Alchemy Research...
2006-11-18 20:32:13 "Tinctures" - the backbone of Alchemy are in deed real - samples from a few have been found in the basements of the Universities...
2006-11-18 20:32:58 However, it's far too little to be of use in Alchemy research itself.
2006-11-18 20:33:38 And the secret to making more seems to have been lost many generations ago.
2006-11-18 20:34:17 However, the recovery of some peculiar pottery shards from around the base of certain wood-bearing trees may change that.
2006-11-18 20:34:56 The Scientists were able to make out part of a recipe, and have reason to believe that our ancestors left a number of such shards so that their knowledge would not be permanently lost.
2006-11-18 20:36:13 Because such trees are rare, when one is found, it should be carefully searched by namy people.
2006-11-18 20:36:54 Shards may then be assembled on a pottery wheel.
2006-11-18 20:37:34 I ask all Egyptians to help in this effort.
2006-11-18 20:38:12 Good luck, Egypt.
Please note that there is no profit in hoarding shards. Like the Portable Star Labs, shards are a research resource to help us unlock new technologies. This is a team effort by all of Egypt!
It appears that there are 7 shards per tablet. The shards are scattered over Egypt, and may be found by digging beneath the roots of trees (a new option when you click on a tree).
Each tree may hold multiple shards, and must be searched by many people to recover all of the fragments. This means that if JoeSchmoe uncovers a piece of Tablet 99 under a particular tree, PattyOFurniture may uncover a piece of Tablet 21 under that very same tree.
If you are the first person to inspect a tree, you'll receive the following message:
You inspect the virgin soil and see no sign of clay shards.
If others have checked the tree already, you'll see:
You inspect the soil and roots and, while you do find evidence of digging, find no evidence of shards.
If the tree contain shards, but you personally can't get them, you are told:
You look carefully, but can't find any shards. Perhaps others would have more luck?
If the tree contains shards, and you get one, you are told:
You find shard # of clay tablet number #
(where # is a shard number 1 to 7, and clay tablet with a number 1 to 120
If all shards have been retreived from a tree you are told:
Although there are signs of clay shards, you are quite sure that the root system has been thoroughly searched, and all shards retrieved
Shards must be assembled on Pottery Wheels.
Please visit the Shard Collector page to list your shard and find players with the other parts of your tablets, or place them in your local Tablet Stash (see below).
